Privacy Policy for LExp

LExp is designed to help photographers plan and calculate photographic exposures and conditions while collecting as little personal information as possible.

LExp does not require you to create an account, does not display advertising, and does not use your information for advertising or tracking.

Location Information

Some LExp features use your current device location.

Location is used to calculate information such as sunrise, sunset, twilight, golden hour, blue hour, Moon information, and other location-dependent photographic data.

Most astronomical calculations are performed directly on your device.

If you use SkyMeter Forecast, LExp also sends latitude and longitude coordinates for your current location directly to the weather service operated by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway). Coordinates are limited to the precision required for obtaining a local weather forecast.

This information is used only to retrieve weather forecast data needed by SkyMeter Forecast.

LExp does not operate a server that receives or stores your location.

MET Norway may retain information associated with API requests, including IP addresses and requested geographic coordinates, in accordance with its own privacy policy and API terms.

You can disable LExp's access to your location at any time in iOS Settings. Features that require your current location may not function while location access is disabled.

SkyMeter Forecast

SkyMeter Forecast downloads weather data directly from MET Norway to your device.

Forecast data is processed on the device to calculate the SkyMeter Colour Index (SCI) and other photographic-condition information.

LExp does not send SkyMeter forecast data, SCI results, or your usage of SkyMeter Forecast to an LExp server.

Forecast information may be cached temporarily on your device to reduce unnecessary network requests. The current SkyMeter forecast cache is not stored as a permanent history of your locations or forecasts.

In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

LExp Premium subscriptions and other in-app purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit.

LExp does not receive or store your payment card number, bank account information, or other payment credentials.

Apple provides LExp with purchase and subscription information necessary to determine whether you have access to purchased features. Apple may also provide developers with App Store sales and subscription reporting information.

LExp does not transmit your StoreKit purchase history or subscription information to an LExp-operated server.

Purchases and subscriptions are also subject to Apple's own privacy policies and App Store terms.

Data Stored on Your Device

LExp may store application settings and preferences on your device, such as settings required to provide the features you have selected.

This information is not transmitted to LExp-operated servers.

Removing the application may remove locally stored application data, subject to normal iOS behaviour.

Advertising, Analytics and Tracking

LExp does not contain advertising and does not use advertising networks.

LExp does not use your location, activity, or other personal information for behavioural advertising or cross-app tracking.

LExp does not sell personal information.

Third-Party Services

LExp currently relies on the following third-party services where required for specific functionality:

MET Norway — provides weather forecast data for SkyMeter Forecast. When SkyMeter Forecast is used, your device communicates directly with MET Norway.

Apple App Store and StoreKit — process purchases, subscriptions, restorations, and entitlement information.

Information handled directly by these services is subject to their respective privacy policies.

Data Retention and Deletion

LExp does not maintain user accounts or a database of personal user information on its own servers.

Because LExp does not maintain an LExp account or server-side personal profile, there is normally no personal account data held by us to delete.

Location permission can be revoked at any time through iOS Settings. Locally stored LExp data can be removed by deleting the app.

Data processed independently by Apple or MET Norway is subject to the retention and deletion practices described in their respective privacy policies.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated if LExp adds or changes features, services, or data-processing practices.

The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made.
